ในปัจจุบันระบบสารสนเทศทางภูมิศาสตร์ (Geographic Information System
:GIS) และ การใช้ภาพถ่ายดาวเทียม ได้ถูกนำมาประยุกต์ใช้อย่างน่าสนใจ ในงาน
หลายสาขา รวมทั้ง งานด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและสาธารณสุข ระบบสารสนเทศทาง
ภูมิศาสตร์ หรือมักเรียกกันสั้นๆ ว่า จีไอเอส คือ ระบบการทำงานโดยใช้โปรแกรม
คอมพิวเตอร์ มีความสามารถในการเก็บและวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลในเชิงพื้นที่ สามารถ
