ประเทศไทยมีการนำหลักเกณฑ์ของ GAP มาประยุกต์ใช้ ดังนี้ การปฏิบัติทางการเกษตรที่ดีสำหรับพืช (Good Agriculture Practices: GAP) ของกรมวิชาการเกษตรและกรมการข้าว ที่มุ่งให้เกิดกระบวนการผลิตที่ได้ผลิตผลปลอดภัย ปลอดจากศัตรูพืชและคุณภาพเป็นที่พึงพอใจของผู้บริโภค ประกอบด้วยข้อกำหนดเรื่อง แหล่งน้ำ พื้นที่ปลูก การใช้วัตถุอันตรายทางการเกษตร การเก็บรักษาและขนย้ายผลิตผลภายในแปลง การบันทึกข้อมูล การผลิตให้ปลอดภัยจากศัตรูพืช การจัดการกระบวนการผลิตเพื่อให้ได้ผลิตผลคุณภาพ และการเก็บเกี่ยวและการปฏิบัติหลังการเก็บเกี่ยว

การตรวจรับรองระบบ GAP ของกรมวิชาการเกษตรได้แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ระดับ ดังนี้

1. กระบวนการผลิตที่ได้ผลิตผลปลอดภัย
2. กระบวนการที่ได้ผลิตผลปลอดภัยและปลอดภัยจากศัตรูพืช
