มีโองการอัลกุรอานมากมายที่กล่าวถึงการอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติระหว่างกับคนต่างศาสนิก เช่น
ความว่า "อัลลอฮมิได้ทรงห้ามพวกเจ้าเกี่ยวกับบรรดาผู้ที่ไม่ได้ต่อต้านเจ้าในเรื่องศาสนา และพวกเขามิได้ขับไล่พวกเจ้าออกจากบ้านเรือนของพวกเจ้าในการที่พวกเจ้าจะทำความดี แก่พวกเขาและให้ความยุติธรรมแก่พวกเขา แท้จริงอัลลอฮทรงรักผู้มีความยุติธรรม"

อัลลอฮได้ตรัสอีกว่า
ความว่า : และพวกเขาให้อาหารเนื่องด้วยความรักต่อพระองค์ แก่คนยากจน กำพร้าและเชลยศึก
อิหม่าม กล่าวว่า "ผู้เปี่ยมล้นด้วยความศรัธทานั้น เขาจะให้อาหารแก่คนยากจน เด็กกำพร้า และเชลยศึก ไม่ว่าเขาเหล่านั้นจะเป็นมุสลิมหรือต่างศาสนิก"

มุฮัมมัด บิน อัลหะซัน กล่าวไว้ในหนังสือว่า "ท่านศาสดาเคยบริจาคทานแก่คนยากจนชาวมุชริกีนมักกะฮ"
ความว่า : "หาใช่เป็นหน้าที่ของเจ้าไม่ ซึ่งการแนะนำพวกเขาให้เกิดการศรัทธา แต่ทว่าอัลลอฮต่างหากที่จะแนะนำใครก็ได้ที่พระองค์ทรงประสงค์ สิ่งดีใดๆ ที่พวกเขาบริจาคไปก็ย่อมได้แก่ตัวของเจ้าเอง และพวกเจ้าจะไม่บริจาคสิ่งใด นอกจากเพื่อแสวงหาความโปรดปรานของอัลลอฮเท่านั้น และสิ่งดีใดๆ ที่พวกเขาบริจาคไป มันจะถูกตอบแทนโดยครบถ้วนแก่พวกเจ้าและพวกเจ้าจะไม่ถูกอยุติธรรม" เป็นต้นมา
