วัดท่าหลวง เป็นวัดสำคัญของจังหวัดพิจิตร อยู่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำน่านฝั่งตะวันตก ถนนบุษบา ใกล้ศาลากลางจังหวัดเก่า วัดนี้สร้างขึ้นประมาณ พ.ศ. 2388 ในรัชกาลพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ภายในพระอุโบสถเป็นที่ประดิษฐานหลวงพ่อเพชร ซึ่งเป็นพระพุทธรูปปางมารวิชัยสมัยเชียงแสน หล่อด้วยทองสัมฤทธิ์ มีพุทธลักษณะงดงามมาก มีหน้าตักกว้าง 1.40 เมตร สูง 1.60 เมตร เป็นพระพุทธรูปสำคัญคู่เมืองพิจิตร ประวัติมีอยู่ว่า พระพิจิตร ซึ่งเป็นเจ้าเมืองอยากได้พระประธานมาประดิษฐานที่เมืองพิจิตร ในโอกาสที่ทัพกรุงศรีอยุธยาได้เดินทางผ่านเมืองพิจิตร เพื่อไปปราบขบถจอมทองเมืองเชียงใหม่ พระพิจิตรจึงได้ขอร้องแม่ทัพว่า เมื่อปราบขบถเสร็จแล้วให้หาพระพุทธรูปมาฝาก ดังนั้น เมื่อเสร็จศึก แม่ทัพนั้นจึงได้อาราธนาพระพุทธรูปหลวงพ่อเพชรลงแพลูกบวบล่องมาทางแม่น้ำปิง โดยฝากเจ้าเมืองกำแพงเพชรไว้ ต่อมาจึงได้อาราธนาหลวงพ่อเพชรมาประดิษฐานไว้ ณ อุโบสถวัดนครชุมก่อน แล้วจึงย้ายมาประดิษฐานที่พระอุโบสถวัดท่าหลวง อำเภอเมืองพิจิตร จนถึงปัจจุบัน พระอุโบสถจะเปิดให้ประชาชนเข้านมัสการหลวงพ่อเพชรได้ทุกวัน ตั้งแต่เวลา 09.00 - 16.00 น.
