งานวิจัยนี้ทำการศึกษาเรื่องการปรับตัวของหลักทรัพย์ต่อการประกาศกำไรซึ่งมีวัตถุประสงค์คือเพื่อทดสอบคุณค่าของข้อมูลการประกาศผลกำไรรายไตรมาสของบริษัทที่จดทะเบียนในตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทยโดยใช้ข้อมูลบริษัทจดทะเบียนฯ รายไตรมาสใน ปี พ.ศ. 2555 โดยใช้วิธีการศึกษาเหตุการณ์ (Event study) ในการวัดผลตอบแทนที่ไม่ปกตินั้นจะวันจากผลตอบแทนที่เกิดขึ้นจริงหักด้วยผลตอบแทนที่คาดหวังซึ่งได้จากการคำนวณตามแบบจำลองตลาด (Market Model) ส่วนการประกาศกำไรนั้นจะมีการแบ่งประเภทของข่าวตาม Foster Olsen and Shevlin (1984)
