วัดติโลกอารามจมอยู่ในกว๊านพะเยาเนื่องจากในปี พ.ศ. ๒๔๘๒ กรมประมงสร้างประตูกั้นน้ำในกว๊านพะเยาเพื่อกักเก็บน้ำ จึงทำให้บริเวณที่เป็นกว๊านพะเยาที่แต่เดิมเป็นชุมชนโบราณ และมีวัดอยู่เป็นจำนวนมากต้องจมน้ำ
