อำเภอแหลมสิงห์
เป็นอำเภอที่มีความสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ คือเมื่อ ร.ศ.112 (พ.ศ.2436) สมัยรัชการที่ 5 ทหารฝรั่งเศสมายึดครองจันทบุรี และได้ตั้งกองบัญชาการขึ้นที่ตำบลปากน้ำแหลมสิงห์ และเรียกกองบัญชาการนี้ว่า “ตึกแดง” และสร้างคุกสำหรับกักขังคนไทยที่ขัดขืนคำสั่ง เรียกว่า “คุกขี้ไก่” ปัจจุบันอาคารตึกแดงและคุกขี้ไก่ ตั้งเป็นอนุสรณ์มาจนถึงปัจจุบันนี้ ฝรั่งเศสยึดอำเภอแหลมสิงห์อยู่ประมาณ 10 ปี จึงถอนกำลังออกประมาณ พ.ศ. 2446 (ปลายสมัยรัชกาลที่ 5)
