รายการชิงร้อยชิงล้านเป็นรายการโทรทัศน์ลำดับที่ 2 ที่ผลิตโดยบริษัท เวิร์คพอยท์ เอ็นเทอร์เทนเมนท์ จำกัด (มหาชน) โดยบริษัท มีเดีย ออฟ มีเดียส์ จำกัด (มหาชน) ร่วมผลิตระหว่างปี 2549-2552 ออกอากาศครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 17 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2533 ทางสถานีโทรทัศน์สีกองทัพบกช่อง 7 (17 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2533—31 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2540) ต่อจากนั้นได้ย้ายไปออกอากาศทางสถานีวิทยุโทรทัศน์ไทยทีวีสีช่อง 3 (7 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2541—30 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2541) หลังจากนั้นได้ออกอากาศทางสถานีวิทยุโทรทัศน์กองทัพบก (7 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2541 - 28 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2548) จากนั้นกลับมาออกอากาศทาง สถานีโทรทัศน์สีกองทัพบกช่อง 7 อีกครั้ง (11 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2549 - 27 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2554) และต่อจากนั้น (1 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2555 - 28 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2558) ได้ย้ายไปออกอากาศทางสถานีวิทยุโทรทัศน์ไทยทีวีสีช่อง 3 อีกครั้ง ทั้งนี้ในปัจจุบัน ย้ายมาออกอากาศทางช่อง เวิร์คพอยท์ทีวี (5 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2558 - ปัจจุบัน)
