เมื่อวันที่ 17 ธ.ค.2557 นายไพรัช เจ้ยชุม ประธานเครือข่ายชาวสวนยางจังหวัดพัทลุง เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้ ชาวสวนยางพาราใน จ.พัทลุง ได้รับผลกระทบจากสภาวะราคายางพาราตกต่ำเป็นอย่างมาก ซึ่งในขณะนี้มีชาวสวนยางพาราได้ตัดโค่นไม้ยางพาราไปขายพ่อค้าในราคาไร่ละ 30,000-40,000 บาท ซึ่งเป็นราคาไม้ยางพาราที่ตกต่ำที่สุดในรอบ 20 ปี โดยพื้นที่สวนยางพาราดังกล่าวนี้จะถูกนำไปปลูกปาล์มน้ำมัน ปลูกพืชผัก และปลูกไม้ผลผสมผสาน ซึ่งในขณะนี้พื้นที่ จ.พัทลุง มีการตัดโค่นไม้ยางไปแล้วประมาณ 3,500 ไร่ และมีแนวโน้มตัดโค่นไม้ยางพารามากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ทั้งๆ ที่ไม้ยางพาราจะมีราคาถูกก็ตาม

ประธานเครือข่ายชาวสวนยางจังหวัดพัทลุง กล่าวด้วยว่า ในวันที่ 19 ธ.ค.นี้ ตัวแทนเครือข่ายชาวสวนยางจังหวัดต่างๆ ทั่วทั้งประเทศ จะเดินทางไปยื่นหนังสือต่อศูนย์ดำรงธรรมของจังหวัดต่างๆ ผ่านไปยัง คสช. และนายกรัฐมนตรี โดยมีสาระสำคัญในการซักถามไปยังรัฐบาล จำนวน 9 ข้อ โดยสาระสำคัญทั้ง 9 ข้อดังกล่าวนี้ได้มาจากการประชุมของตัวแทนของเครือข่ายชาวสวนยางพาราทั่วประเทศ ณ โรงแรมแห่งหนึ่ง ในกรุงเทพฯ เมื่อเร็วๆ นี้ เพราะเห็นว่าที่ผ่านมารัฐบาล และ คสช. จะฟังแนวทางการแก้ปัญหาราคายางพาราตกต่ำจากที่ปรึกษาที่เป็นกลุ่มทุนยางพารา กลุ่มสมาคมยาง สมาพันธ์ยาง ที่ไม่มีฐานจากชาวสวนยางพาราที่แท้จริง จนส่งผลให้รัฐบาลไม่มีข้อมูลพื้นฐานปัญหาความเดือดร้อนของชาวสวนยางพารา และทำให้การแก้ปัญหายางพาราของรัฐบาลคว้าน้ำเหลวมาโดยตลอด.
