นายยก ชูบัว เป็นศิลปินแห่งชาติ สาขาศิลปะการแสดง(โนรา) ประจำปีพุทธศักราช ๒๕๓๐

นายยก ชูบัว หรือ โนรายก เป็นโนราที่มีชื่อเสียงคนหนึ่ง เป็นบุตรนายเลิศ นางเอี่ยม ชูบัว เกิดเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2465 ที่บ้านทะเลน้อย อำเภอควนขนุน จังหวัดพัทลุง จบการศึกษาชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 จากโรงเรียนวัดทะเลน้อย อุปสมบท 1 พรรษา มีฉายาว่า ธมฺมทินฺโน สอบได้นักธรรมตรี จากสนามสอบวัดสุวรรณวิชัย อำเภอควนขนุน เมื่อลาสิกขาได้รับคัดเลือกให้รับราชการตำรวจอยู่ 2 ปี ณ สถานีตำรวจภูธร อำเภอเมืองพัทลุง และระยะดังกล่าวได้แต่งงานกับนางสาวกล่ำ พงค์ชนะ ไม่มีบุตร เมื่ออกจากราชการได้ย้ายครอบครัวมาอยู่ที่อำเภอระโนด จังหวัดสงขลา



โนรายก หัดรำโนรามาตั้งแต่อายุ 8 ขวบ โดยกัดกับโนราเลื่อน พงค์ชนะ บ้านทะเลน้อย และอยู่ประจำคณะโนราเลื่อนมาจนอายุ 16 ปี จึงแยกมาตั้งคณะเอง ในระยะที่แยกโรงใหม่ๆ เมื่อถึงหน้าแล้งโนรายกจะนำคณะไปแสดงอยู่ประจำในเขตจังหวัดภูเก็ตและพังงา ครั้งถึงหน้าฝนก็นำคณะกลับพัทลุง ช่วงที่ว่างจากการแสดงในระยะดังกล่าว โนรายกได้ไปฝึกรำทำบทกับโนราวัน (จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช) ซึ่งเป็นโนราที่มีชื่อเสียงมากในการรำทำบทในสมัยนั้น ฝึกอยู่ประมาณ 6 เดือนก็ชำนาญ กลับมาทำพิธีผูกผ้าแล้วเข้าอุปสมบทและรับราชการตำรวจตามลำดับดังกล่าวแล้ว ออกจากตำรวจก็มารำโนราหาเลี้ยงชีพเพียงอย่างเดียว

ด้วยโนรายกมีความสามารถทั้งการรำ ร้องกลอนและตลกจึงมีผู้เรียกหาไปแสดงมิได้ขาด ได้ประชันกับโนราดีๆ ในภาคใต้เกือบทุกคณะ ได้แสดงทั่วทั้ง 14 จังหวัดภาคใต้ และบางจังหวัดในภาคกลาง การแสดงครั้งสำคัญที่นับเป็นเกียรติประวัติ ได้แก่ รำให้ทูตวัฒนธรรมของ 25 ประเทศชมที่กรุงเทพฯ รำออกรายการโทรทัศน์ ซึ่ง ม.ร.ว.คึกฤทธิ์ ปราโมช จัดขึ้นเป็นพิเศษ รำถวายพระบรมราชชนนีในพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ที่เกาะอาดัง จังหวัดสตูล ครั้งนี้ได้รับพระราชทานเหรียญที่ระลึกด้วย ได้รับเชิญจากกรมศิลปากรให้ไปรำที่โรงละครแห่งชาติพร้อมกับขุนอุปถัมภ์นรากร เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2518 ในครั้งนี้ได้รับเกียรติบัตรจากกรมศิลปากร และพระบรมวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าเฉลิมพลทิฆัมพรได้ประทานเทริดให้ 1 ยอด และในปี พ.ศ. 2526 สถานบันทักษิณคดีศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยศรีนครินทรวิโรฒ ได้เชิญพร้อมด้วยโนราอีก 7 คณะไปรำในรายการ "มหกรรมโนรา" ที่โรงละครแห่งชาติและที่ศูนย์สังคีต ธนาคารกรุงเทพ เป็นต้น



โนรายก ยังได้รับเกียรติให้เป็นครูสอนโนราแก่นักเรียนนักศึกษาและผู้สนใจในสถาบันการศึกษาหลายแห่ง ได้แก่ สถาบันราชภัฎนครศรีธรรมราช มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตหาดใหญ่ โรงเรียนธัญเจริญ และโรงเรียนเกษตรชลธี อำเภอระโนด สำหรับที่มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์นั้น สามารถตั้งคณะโนราของมหาวิทยาลัยขึ้นได้สำเร็จ และได้เผยแพร่ให้เป็นที่รู้จักันอย่างกว้างขวาง เคยได้รับเชิญไปสอนที่วิทยาลัยนาฏศิลปนครศรีธรรมราช ที่สถาบันราบภัฎสงขลา และสถานศึกษาอื่นๆ อีกหลายแห่ง
