ภูมิหลัง

ทองมา เปรียบยิ่ง เป็นบุตรชายคนโต จากพี่น้อง ๗ คน ของพ่อดิน และแม่ลุน เปรียบยิ่ง ปัจจุบันอายุ ๕๐ ปี ปัจจุบันอาศัยอยู่ บ้านเลขที่ ๒๐ หมู่ที่ ๑๒ บ้านโดนเลงใต้ ต.ทมอ อ.ปราสาท จ. สุรินทร์
หลังจบการศึกษาภาคบังคับในสมัยนั้น ทองมาก็ได้ออกมาช่วยครอบครัวทำนาและใช้วิถีชีวิตชนบทมาตั้งแต่บัดนั้น

จวบจนย่างเข้าวัยหนุ่ม อายุได้ ๒๒ ปี ทองมาเปลี่ยนวิถีชีวิตมาเป็น “นายฮ้อย” ค้าควายอยู่ที่จังหวัดชลบุรี แต่ทำได้เพียง ๑ ปี ก็ย้อนกลับมาสู่วิถีชีวิตแบบเดิม พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๖ ได้ สมรสกับนางประสพ เปรียบยิ่ง มีบุตรและธิดารวม ๓ คน

วิถีเกษตร

การปฏิบัติในแนวทางนี้ นอกจากจะทำให้คุณภาพของดินดีขึ้นแล้ว ผลผลิตที่ได้ยังปลอดจากสารเคมีทุกชนิด อีกประการหนึ่งที่สำคัญคือ ถือเป็นการลดต้นทุนการผลิตไปในตัว
เข้าสู่โครงการนำร่องฯ

ปี ๒๕๔๔ ทองมาได้เข้าร่วมโครงการนำร่องฯ โดยพื้นที่ที่ทองมาอาศัยอยู่และพื้นที่ทำกินนั้น อยู่ในผืนเดียวกัน โดยแบ่งเป็นที่อยู่อาศัย ๑ งาน และพื้นที่เข้าร่วมโครงการ ๑๒ ไร่ นอกเหนือไปจากนั้น ก็มีแปลงสำหรับทำนาอินทรีย์และทำเกษตรแบบพึ่งตนเอง ๒๐ ไร่

การเข้าร่วมโครงการนำร่องฯ ทำให้มีโอกาสได้ไปศึกษาดูงานของเกษตรกรตัวอย่างที่ประสบความสำเร็จจากการทำนาธรรมชาติ, นาอินทรีย์ หลายๆ คน เช่น พ่อคำเดื่อง ภาษี ปราชญ์ชาวบ้าน ซึ่งได้รับการยอมรับว่าเป็นนักปฏิบัติแห่งยุคสมัย ที่กิ่งอำเภอแคนดง จ.บุรีรัมย์ อีกทั้งพ่อเชียง ไทยดี ปราชญ์นักวิจัยชาวบ้าน จากอำเภอศีขรภูมิ จังหวัดสุรินทร์ การได้เห็น ได้สัมผัส ได้พูดคุย แลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์นี่เอง ทำให้ได้แนวคิดมาปรับประยุกต์ใช้กับผืนนาของตนเอง
