ปัจจุบันสังคมไทยได้รับเอาวัฒนธรรมและความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางด้านต่างๆมาจากชาติตะวันตกมากขึ้น ซึ่งวัฒนธรรมหรือความเจริญก้าวหน้าบางสิ่งบางอย่างส่งผลให้สังคมไทยมีการพัฒนาและการสื่อสารที่ดีขึ้น แต่วัฒนาธรรมบางอย่างก็ส่งผลเสียให้กับสังคมไทยได้เช่นกัน ดังนั้น เราจึงควรพิจารณาถึงการรับเอาวัฒนธรรมหรือเทคโนโลยีจากต่างชาติเพื่อนำมาใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน
การที่เรารับเอาเทคโนโลยีทางด้านต่างๆเข้ามาทำให้ส่งผลดีในหลายๆด้าน แต่การรับเอาเทคโนโลยีเพื่อนำมาปรับใช้ภายในสังคมก่อให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสังคมในหลายด้านเมื่อเทียบกับสมัยก่อน ขึ้นมาเพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการของมนุษย์ที่ไม่สิ้นสุด การเปลี่ยนแปลงของสังคมจากเทคโนโลยีนั้นมีทั้งด้านบวกและด้านลบ ซึ่งขึ้นอยู่กับการรับเอาเทคโนโลยีนั้นๆไปใช้ ว่าทำให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุดเพียงใด เช่น การที่สังคมของเรามีเครื่องมือหรืออุปกรณ์ต่างๆเข้ามาใช้ ทำให้ผู้ประกอบการต่างๆเกิดความสะดวกสบายมากขึ้น แต่ในอีกแง่มุมหนึ่ง ถ้าหากเราลองมองย้อนกลับไปในอดีต บุคคลในสมัยนั้นก็ยังสามารถดำรงชีวิตอยู่ได้อย่างมีความสุขโดยไม่ต้องพึ่งเทคโนโลยีในการช่วยอำนวยความสะดวกในด้านต่างๆ ซึ่งการพัฒนาทางด้านเทคโนโลยีของสังคมไทยในปัจจุบัน อาจส่งผลให้การพัฒนาศักยภาพของประชากรในอนาคตต่ำลงเพราะ คนสมัยใหม่มักพึ่งพาเทคโนโลยีมากเกินไป จนอาจทำให้ประชากรรุ่นหลังไม่สามารถที่จะอาศัยอยู่ได้โดยปราศจากเทคโนโลยี ซึ่งเปรียบเทคโนโลยีเสมือนอีกหนึ่งปัจจัยในการดำรงชีวิตไปแล้ว
ดังนั้น เราจึงควรพิจารณาถึงข้อดีและข้อเสียของเทคโนโลยีทางด้านต่างๆก่อนจะนำมาใช้ เพราะเทคโนโลยีบางประเภทอาจทำร้ายเราทางอ้อม โดยเราไม่รู้ตัวก็เป็นได้
