กลุ่มตัวอย่างได้แก่นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 สาขาวิชาการบัญชี และสาขาวิชาการท่องเที่ยว จำนวน 40 คนที่ศึกษาวิชาภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการศึกษา ในภาคเรียนที่ 2/2557 มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลอีสาน วิทยาเขตกาฬสินธุ์ โดยการสุ่มอย่างง่าย (Simple Random Sampling) โดยใช้ห้องเรียนเป็นหน่วยสุ่ม เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการทดลอง ได้แก่ แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้เพื่อพัฒนาความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษด้วยเทคนิคSQ4R วิชาภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสารจำนวน 3 แผน แบบทดสอบการเรียนรู้เพื่อพัฒนาความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษด้วยเทคนิค SQ4R จำนวน 3 แผน และแบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจในการเรียนรู้ด้วยเทคนิค SQ4R โดยใช้เลาในการทดลอง 3 สัปดาห์ๆละ 6 คาบ คาบเรียนละ 60 นาที รวมทั้งสิ้น 18 คาบเรียน และทำการประเมินหลังทั้งความสามารถการเรียนรู้และความพึงพอใจ 3 คาบ หลังจากทำการทดลองแล้วนำข้อมูลที่ได้มาวิเคราะห์เพื่อหาค่าเฉลี่ยและส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานและความเชื่อมั่นของแบบทดสอบ
