การปฏิบัติทางการเกษตรที่ดี และเหมาะสม (Good Agriculture Practices เรียกย่อๆว่า GAP)
หมายถึง แนวทางในการทำการเกษตร เพื่อให้ได้ผลผลิตที่มีคุณภาพดีตรงตามมาตรฐานที่กำหนด ได้ผลผลิตสูงคุ้มค่าการลงทุนและขบวนการผลิตจะต้องปลอดภัยต่อเกษตรกรและผู้บริโภค มีการใช้ทรัพยากรที่เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด เกิดความยั่งยืนทางการเกษตรและไม่ทำให้เกิดมลพิษต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยหลักการนี้ได้รับการกำหนดโดยองค์การอาหารและเกษตรแห่งสหประชาชาติ (FAO)
สำหรับประเทศไทย กรมวิชาการเกษตร กระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์ เป็นหน่วยงานที่มีหน้าที่ในการตรวจรับรองระบบการจัดการคุณภาพ : การปฏิบัติทางการเกษตรที่ดีสำหรับพืช (GAP) โดยได้กำหนดข้อกำหนด กฎเกณฑ์และวิธีการตรวจประเมิน ซึ่งเป็นไปตามหลักการที่สอดคล้องกับ GAP ตามหลักการสากล เพื่อใช้เป็นมาตรฐานการผลิตพืชในระดับฟาร์มของประเทศ รวมทั้งได้จัดทำคู่มือการเพาะปลูกพืชตามหลัก GAPจำนวน 24 ชนิด ประกอบด้วย
