ปัจจุบันนี้การศึกษาไทยมีการพัฒนามากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ เพื่อให้ก้าวทันประเทศที่มีความเจริญทั้งทางด้านการศึกษา เศรษฐกิจ และสังคม โดยเน้นให้ผู้เรียนมีความรู้รอบด้านและสามารถนาไปใช้ได้ในทุกๆสายอาชีพ ดังตอนนี้จะเห็นได้ว่า การศึกษาไม่ว่าจะชาติใด ประเทศใดก็จะให้ความสาคัญกับภาษาอังกฤษเป็นอย่างมาก เพราะภาษาอังกฤษถือว่าเป็นภาษาสากลที่ใช้เกือบทั่วทุกมุมโลก รวมทั้งยังเป็นภาษาที่สอดคล้องกับการทางานร่วมกันของประเทศสมาชิกในประชาคมอาเซียน ซึ่งได้มีการออกกฎบัตรอาเซียนที่บัญญัติไว้ว่า “The working language of ASEAN shall be English” ภาษาที่ใช้ในการทางานของอาเซียนคือ ภาษาอังกฤษ เมื่อเป็นอย่างนี้แล้ว การศึกษาทั่วทุกมุมโลกจึงเน้นที่จะเสริมสร้างให้นักเรียนได้เรียนภาษาอังกฤษ และนาไปใช้ในอนาคตต่อไป เพื่อให้สามารถอยู่ร่วมกันของคนในสังคมประชาคมอาเซียนได้เป็นอย่างดี ไม่เพียงกระบวนการของการศึกษาเท่านั้นที่จะเป็นผู้เริ่ม แต่ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับผู้เรียนด้วยว่าจะใส่ใจและพร้อมนาไปปฏิบัติใช้ในอนาคตได้อย่างเต็มที่หรือไม่ เพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับนโยบายของอาเซียนในการสร้างความสัมพันธ์กับกลุ่มประเทศสมาชิกและประเทศคู่เจรจา เช่น จีน ญี่ปุ่น เกาหลี ออสเตรเลีย สหรัฐอเมริกา เป็นต้น
การที่จะพัฒนาตนเองให้มีความรู้ความสามารถพอที่จะก้าวเข้าสู่ในประชาคมอาเซียนได้นั้น จาเป็นที่จะต้องมีความมุ่งมั่น มีความกระตือรือร้นในการแสวงหาความรู้และพัฒนาตนให้ตรงตามเป้าหมายที่ได้ตั้งไว้ โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่อยู่ในวัยกาลังศึกษาควรรีบมั่นศึกษาหาความรู้ให้มากที่สุด เพราะการเรียนถือว่าเป็นสิ่งที่สาคัญที่สุดในการพัฒนา จากข้างต้นแม้ว่าภาษาอังกฤษจะหมายถึงการสื่อสารระหว่างกันในการทางานทั้งของภาครัฐและภาคเอกชน แต่ก็ยังรวมไปถึงประชาชนในประเทศสมาชิกทั้ง 10 ประเทศอาเซียน จาเป็นที่จะต้องใช้

จากที่กล่าวมาข้างต้น การเรียนไม่ว่าจะระดับใด ประเทศใด ก็มักที่จะต้องเสริมสร้างและเน้นให้ผู้เรียนได้เรียนภาษาอังกฤษและเทคโนโลยี เพื่อนาไปปรับใช้ในการประกอบอาชีพ และเมื่อประเทศไทยของเราได้เป็นสมาชิกของประชาคมอาเซียน ดังนั้นเราจึงควรเรียนรู้และแสวงหาในสิ่งที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อตนเองและสามารถนาไปพัฒนาประเทศชาติดังกับเป้าหมายของการจัดตั้งประชาคมอาเซียน อีกทั้งยังเป็นประโยชน์ในการติดต่อสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างประเทศสมาชิกและประเทศคู่เจรจาทั้งด้านการค้า เศรษฐกิจ สังคม หรือการท่องเที่ยว ที่ต่างมีความสาคัญด้วยกันทั้งสิ้น
