งานวิจัยนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ โดยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้จากการสุ่มตัวอย่างจากจำนวนครัวเรือนในเขตตำบลนาหลวงเสน อำเภอทุ่ง จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ทั้งหมด2,856 ครัวเรือนจากการคำนวณขนาดตัวอย่างดังกล่าวเมื่อคำนวณแล้วจะได้ขนาดของกลุ่มตัวอย่างเท่ากับ 351 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นแบบสอบถาม แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ตอน คือ ตอนที่1 เป็นแบบสอบถามเกี่ยวกับลักษณะประชากรกลุ่มตัวอย่าง ตอนที่ 2 เป็นแบบสอบถามความคาดหวังของประชาชนในการพัฒนาท้องถิ่นตำบลนาหลวงเสน อำเภอทุ่งสง จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ตอนที่ 3 เป็นแบบสอบถามปลายเปิดเพื่อให้ประชาชนแสดงความคิดเห็นและข้อเสนอเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับความคาดหวังของประชาชนในการพัฒนาท้องถิ่นของตำบลนาหลวงเสน อำเภอทุ่งสง จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้การหาค่าความถี่ และร้อยละ ใช้สถิติค่าเฉลี่ยและส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ใช้สถิติ t-test ใช้สถิติวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบทางเดียว และในกรณีที่พบความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติจะนำไปเปรียบเทียบเป็นรายคู่ตามวิธีของ LSD
