ร.อ.ยงยุทธ กล่าวว่า การประชุมดังกล่าว รัฐบาลได้มีการประชุมบูรณาการแก้ปัญหาภัยแล้ง ที่คาดว่าจะเกิดขึ้น เพราะปีนี้มีปริมาณน้ำในเขื่อนต่างๆ ต่ำกว่าค่าเฉลี่ยในปีที่ผ่านมา และ พล.อ.ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรีและหัวหน้าคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติ (คสช.) ได้มีการสั่งการให้ทุกหน่วยงานบูรณาการการแก้ปัญหา ทั้งระยะเร่งด่วน ระยะกลาง และระยะยาว
