ประวัติสังขยา



สังขยา หรือที่เรียกในภาษามาเลย์ว่า ศรีกายา หรือกายา เป็นขนมนึ่งทำจากกะทิและน้ำตาล พบในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้หลายประเทศ เช่น




อินโดนีเซีย มาเลเซีย สิงคโปร์

กายาหรือศรีกายา (มาจากคำว่าร่ำรวยในภาษามาเลย์) เป็นขนมที่ทำจาก กะทิ ไข่เป็ดหรือไขไก่ ซึ่งขยำให้เข้ากันด้วยใบเตย ปรุงรสหวานด้วยน้ำตาล มีจุดกำเนิดในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้เพราะใช้เครื่องปรุงที่พบมาในท้องถิ่นคือน้ำตาลมะพร้าวและใบเตย กายายังใช้รับประทานร่วมกับขนมอื่น เช่น pulut tekan ซึ่งเป็นข้าวเหนียวนึ่งที่ย้อมให้เป็นสีม่วง pulut seri muka ข้าวเหนียวนึ่งที่ย้อมให้เป็นสีเขียวด้วยใบเตย

สังขยาในฟิลิปปินส์ทำจากกะทิ และน้ำตาลหรือกากน้ำตาล




ไทย

สังขยาในไทยเป็นขนมที่จัดอยู่ในกลุ่มที่ได้รับอิทธิพลจากโปรตุเกส นิยมรับประทานกับข้าวเหนียว หรือใส่ในฟักทอง เผือกหรือมะพร้าว แล้วนำไปนึ่ง เป็นคนละชนิดกับสังขยาที่กินกับขนมปัง




กัมพูชา

สังขยาในกัมพูชา ลักษณะคล้ายสังขยาในประเทศไทย นิยมปรุงกับฟักทองแบบสังขยาฟักทอง
