          เรื่องราวทั้งหมดเริ่มต้นจากเศรษฐีแก่ขี้งก  ใจดำ  เบื่อโลก  ชื่อ“เอบีนีเซอร์  สกรูจ” (Jim  Carrey)  ที่เกลียดเพื่อนร่วมโลกทุกคน  แต่คบเพียงแต่เงินตราด้วยหวังว่ามันจะเป็นมิตรสหายที่นำความมั่งคั่งมาให้  การใช้ชีวิตของ ‘สกรูจ’ เหมือนอยู่ในโลกอันมืดดำ  ที่ยากต่อแสงสว่างจะส่งไปถึง  รังสีอำมหิตที่เขามีส่งคลื่นไปสู่คนรอบข้างอย่างรวดเร็ว  ไม่มีใครชอบ ‘สกรูจ’ แต่ก็ดูหาใช่สิ่งสำคัญต่อความรู้สึกของเขาไม่  กลับทำให้เขายิ่งสบายใจที่ไม่มีผู้ใดเข้ามายุ่งวุ่นวายกับชีวิตของเขามากกว่า
