ที่ก่อเกิดเป็นพระรัตนตรัย

กระผม สามเณรธราดล พัฒนมาศ ศึกษาอยู่ในระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ ๒ โรงเรียนพระปริยัติธรรมวัดโพธิทัตราชวิทยาลัย อำเภอศรีราชา จังหวัดชลบุรี กลุ่มที่ ๑๓
วันนี้กระผมจะได้มาบรรยายธรรม ในหัวข้อเรื่อง เยาวชนไทยยึดมั่นกตัญญู

คำว่า กตัญญู หมายถึง การรู้สำนึกถึงอุปการคุณของผู้ที่มีพระคุณแก่ตน กล่าวคือ บิดาและมารดาถือว่าเป็นผู้มีพระคุณต่อบุตรธิดา เพราะเป็นผู้ให้กำเนิดมาและเลี้ยงดูจนเติบใหญ่
คำว่า กตเวที หมายถึง การตอบแทนหรือสนองคุณท่าน กล่าวคือ บุตรธิดาเมื่อระลึกนึกถึงรู้พระคุณของมารดาบิดาแล้วตอบแทนคุณท่าน ดังนั้น คำว่า กตัญญูกตเวที จึงมีความหมายที่เกื้อหนุนซึ่งกันและกัน
คนเราเกิดมานั้น ต้องรู้จักระลึกนึกถึง ตอบแทนพระคุณของผู้ที่มีอุปการคุณ เช่น บิดา มารดาผู้ให้กำเนิดชีวิตมา ตลอดจนครูบาอาจารย์ที่คอยพร่ำสอนประสิทธิประสาทวิชาความรู้ให้ อีกทั้งพี่น้องผองเพื่อน ที่ให้ความสนับสนุนจุนเจือช่วยเหลือยามลำบาก รู้จักหาโอกาสตอบแทนบุญคุณนั้น ท่านถือว่าเป็นผู้ที่มีความกตัญญูกตเวที
อันความกตัญญูนั้นทำได้มากมายหลายอย่าง ในฐานะที่เราเป็นเยาวชนคนไทย เกิดมาบนพื้นแผ่นดินไทย อาศัยอยู่มาตั้งแต่สมัยบรรพบุรุษ ควรต้องมีความกตัญญูต่อสถาบันหลักของไทย ดังต่อไปนี้
๑. ความกตัญญูกตเวทีต่อชาติ คือ รู้จักรักษาผืนแผ่นดินไทย รักษาขนบธรรมเนียม ประเพณีไทยเอาไว้ เพื่ออนุชนรุ่นหลัง
๒. ความกตัญญูกตเวทีต่อพระศาสนา คือ รู้จักทำนุบำรุง และจรรโลงพระพุทธศาสนา ปฏิบัติตามหลักธรรมคำสอน
๓. ความกตัญญูกตเวทีต่อพระมหากษัตริย์ คือ แสดงความจงรักภักดีต่อพระเจ้าแผ่นดิน ระลึกนึกถึงพระมหากรุณาธิคุณที่ทรงมีพระเมตตา กรุณา ต่อพสกนิกรชาวไทยอย่างหาที่สุดมิได้
จากความกตัญญูกตเวทีที่กล่าวมานี้นับว่าเป็นความกตัญญูที่ยิ่งใหญ่ไพศาล เยาวชนคนไทยควรยึดถือปฏิบัติเป็นแบบอย่าง เพราะเป็นหนทางแห่งความเจริญงอกงามของสังคมประเทศชาติ
อนึ่ง ในยุคสังคมปัจจุบันนี้ ผู้คนมีการย้ายถิ่นฐานบ้านเกิดเมืองนอน ทำให้เกิดความห่างไกลกัน
สายใยความผูกพันแห่งครอบครัวก็ลดน้อยถอยลงไปตามกาลเวลา โดยลืมคิดถึงความห่วงใยของผู้ที่มีอุปการคุณ กล่าวคือ บิดา มารดา ครูบาอาจารย์ ที่มีมาแต่ก่อนนั้น ถ้าเยาวชนไทยขาดซึ่งความกตัญญูแล้ว ก็จะหาความเจริญในชีวิตไม่ได้และจะเป็นปัญหาใหญ่ในสังคมประเทศชาติอย่างไม่มีที่สิ้นสุด
เพราะฉะนั้น เยาวชนที่มีความกตัญญูกตเวทีจะนำแต่สิ่งที่ดีมาสู่ตนและครอบครัว การสร้างคุณงามความดีล้วนมีพื้นฐานมาจากความกตัญญูรู้คุณทั้งสิ้น เพราะความกตัญญูกตเวทีนั้นท่านถือว่าเป็นสัญลักษณ์หรือเครื่องหมายของคนดี ดังพระพุทธพจน์ที่ตรัสไว้ว่า
นิมิตฺตํ สาธุรูปานํ กตญฺญูกตเวทิตา ความกตัญญูกตเวทีเป็นเครื่องหมายของคนดี
