การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาระดับบทบาทพระสงฆ์ในการเผยแผ่ธรรมะในอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดลำพูน 2) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบบทบาทพระสงฆ์ในการเผยแผ่ธรรมะในอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดลำพูน โดยจำแนกตามปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล 3) เพื่อศึกษาปัญหา อุปสรรคและข้อเสนอแนะเกี่ยวกับการเผยแผ่ธรรมะในอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดลำพูนและ 4) เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการพัฒนาบทบาทพระสงฆ์ในการเผยแผ่ธรรมะในอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดลำพูน ดำเนินการวิจัยโดยการวิจัยแบบผสมผสานอย่างเท่าเทียม (Mixed Method) ประชากรและกลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ พระสงฆ์ในเขตอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดลำพูน จำนวน ๕๓๒ รูป ทำการสุ่มกลุ่มตัวอย่างโดยใช้สูตรคำนวณขนาดกลุ่มตัวอย่างของทาโร่ ยามาเน่ ได้ขนาดกลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ๒๘๘ คน และเก็บข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสอบถาม และทำการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูปเพื่อการวิจัยทางสังคมศาสตร์ เพื่อหาค่าความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานในการอธิบายลักษณะข้อมูลทั่วไป และทำการทดสอบสมมติฐานด้วยการทดสอบค่าที (t-test) และค่าเอฟ (f-test) ด้วยการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบทางเดียว (One-Way Anova) เมื่อพบว่ามีความแตกต่างจึงทดสอบความแตกต่างรายคู่โดยวิธีการหาผลต่างนัยสำคัญน้อยที่สุด (Least Significant Difference : LSD) ในส่วนของข้อคำถามปลายเปิดที่แสดงปัญหาอุปสรรค และข้อเสนอแนะ ผู้วิจัยทำการจัดกลุ่มตามประเด็นที่กำหนดไว้ในแบบสอบถามปลายเปิด จากนั้นจะทำการวิเคราะห์ โดยใช้การแจกแจงความถี่ (Frequency) และข้อมูลจากการสัมภาษณ์ ผู้วิจัยจะทำการจัดกลุ่มข้อมูลตามสาระสำคัญของประเด็นการสัมภาษณ์ จากนั้นทำการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงเนื้อหา
