โครงการตามพระราชดำริหมู่บ้านสหกรณ์สันกำแพง เป็นโครงการตามพระราชดำริของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ เริ่มดำเนินการเมื่อปี พ.ศ.๒๕๑๘ โดยสำนักงานเร่งรัดพัฒนาชนบทขอใช้พื้นที่บริเวณตำบลออนหลวย อำเภอสันกำแพง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ จากกรมป่าไม้ จำนวน ๒๒,๒๙๖.๒๕ ไร่ และคัดเลือกเกษตรกรผู้ด้อยโอกาสในภาคเหนือ ได้แก่ อำเภอดอยสะเก็ด อำเภอเมือง อำเภอสันกำแพง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ จังหวัดน่าน จังหวัดเชียงราย จังหวัดลำพูน จังหวัดลำปาง จังหวัดกำแพงเพชร จังหวัดพะเยา และจังหวัดแม่ฮ่องสอน เข้าร่วมโครงการฯ โดยสมาชิกได้รับการจัดสรรที่ดินเป็นที่อยู่อาศัยครอบครัวละ ๒,๐๐๐ ตารางวา และที่ดินสำหรับเกษตรกรครอบครัวละ ๔-๗ไร่ และได้มีการจัดตั้งสหกรณ์การเกษตรหมู่บ้านสหกรณ์สันกำแพงจำกัด เมื่อวันที่๑๕ มิถุนายน ๒๕๒๔
