ถ้าเอ่ยชื่อ "สุนทรภู่" เชื่อว่าน้อยคนนักที่จะไม่รู้จักกวีชาวไทยที่มีชื่อเสียงก้องโลก โดยเฉพาะกลอนนิทานเรื่อง "พระอภัยมณี" จนได้รับยกย่องจากองค์การยูเนสโกให้เป็นบุคคลสำคัญของโลก ด้านงานวรรณกรรม หรือ "มหากวีแห่งรัตนโกสินทร์" หรือ "เชกสเปียร์แห่งประเทศไทย" และคงเป็นที่ทราบกันดีอยู่แล้วว่า "วันที่ 26 มิถุนายน" ของทุกปีคือ "วันสุนทรภู่" ซึ่งมักจะมีการจัดนิทรรศการ ประกวดแต่งคำกลอน เพื่อแสดงถึงการรำลึกถึง เพราะฉะนั้น วันนี้กระปุกดอทคอมจึงไม่พลาด ขอพาไปเปิดประวัติ "วันสุนทรภู่" ให้มากขึ้นค่ะ...

ชีวประวัติ "สุนทรภู่"

บิดาของท่านเป็นชาวกร่ำ อำเภอแกลง จังหวัดระยอง ชื่อพ่อพลับ ส่วนมารดาเป็นชาวเมืองฉะเชิงเทรา ชื่อแม่ช้อย สันนิษฐานว่ามารดาเป็นข้าหลวงอยู่ในพระราชวังหลัง เชื่อว่าหลังจากสุนทรภู่เกิดได้ไม่นาน บิดามารดาก็หย่าร้างกัน บิดาออกไปบวชอยู่ที่วัดป่ากร่ำ ตำบลบ้านกร่ำ อำเภอแกลง อันเป็นภูมิลำเนาเดิม ส่วนมารดาได้เข้าไปอยู่ในพระราชวังหลัง ถวายตัวเป็นนางนมของพระองค์เจ้าหญิงจงกล พระธิดาในเจ้าฟ้ากรมหลวงอนุรักษ์เทเวศร์ ดังนั้น สุนทรภู่จึงได้อยู่ในพระราชวังหลังกับมารดา และได้ถวายตัวเป็นข้าในกรมพระราชวังหลัง ซึ่งสุนทรภู่ยังมีน้องสาวต่างบิดาอีกสองคน ชื่อฉิมและนิ่ม อีกด้วย

ต่อมาสุนทรภู่ลอบรักกับนางข้าหลวงในวังหลังคนหนึ่ง ชื่อแม่จัน ซึ่งเป็นบุตรหลานผู้มีตระกูล จึงถูกกรมพระราชวังหลังกริ้วจนถึงให้โบยและจำคุกคนทั้งสอง แต่เมื่อกรมพระราชวังหลังเสด็จทิวงคตในปี พ.ศ. 2349 จึงมีการอภัยโทษแก่ผู้ถูกลงโทษทั้งหมดถวายเป็นพระราชกุศล หลังจากสุนทรภู่ออกจากคุก เขากับแม่จันก็เดินทางไปหาบิดาที่ อำเภอแกลง จังหวัดระยอง และมีบุตรด้วยกัน 1 คน ชื่อ "พ่อพัด" ได้อยู่ในความอุปการะของเจ้าครอกทองอยู่ ส่วนสุนทรภู่กับแม่จันก็มีเรื่องระหองระแหงกันเสมอ จนภายหลังก็เลิกรากันไป

จนกระทั่งเข้ารับราชการในปี พ.ศ. 2359 ในรัชสมัยรัชกาลที่ 2 สุนทรภู่ได้เข้ารับราชการในกรมพระอาลักษณ์ และเป็นที่โปรดปรานของพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย จนแต่งตั้งให้เป็นกวีที่ปรึกษาและคอยรับใช้ใกล้ชิด เนื่องจากเมื่อครั้งที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัยทรงแต่งกลอนบทละครในเรื่อง "รามเกียรติ์" ติดขัดไม่มีผู้ใดต่อกลอนได้ต้องพระราชหฤทัย จึงโปรดให้สุนทรภู่ทดลองแต่ง ปรากฏว่าแต่งได้ดีเป็นที่พอพระทัย จึงทรงพระกรุณาฯ เลื่อนให้เป็น "ขุนสุนทรโวหาร"
