การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความรู้ ทัศนคติ พฤติกรรม และปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการคัดแยกขยะ ในพื้นที่เขตเทศบาลตำบลเชียงเครือ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดสกลนคร จำนวน 322 ราย โดยวิธีสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบแบ่งชั้น แล้วทำสุ่มแบบบัญเอิญ ใช้แบบสอบถามและสัมภาษณ์ผู้บริหารเทศบาล ประชาชนในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเชียงเครือ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล คือ ค่าความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติเชิงอนุมานเพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์โดยใช้ แบบ Parametric วิเคราะห์ค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ของแต่ ละตัวแปร
ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามเกินกว่าครึ่งเป็นเพศหญิง มีอายุ 45 ปีขึ้นไป มากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 47.52 รองลงมามีอายุระหว่าง 36-45 ปี คิดเป็นร้อยละ 23.91 สำเร็จการศึกษาในระดับประถมศึกษามากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 57.76 รองลงมาสำเร็จการศึกษาในระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนต้น คิดเป็นร้อยละ 17.39 และประกอบอาชีพเกษตรกรรมมากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 32.97 รองลงมาประกอบอาชีพรับจ้าง คิดเป็นร้อยละ 27.64 มีรายได้ต่อเดือนต่ำกว่า 5,000 บาท มากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 45.34 รองลงมามีรายได้ต่อเดือนระหว่าง 5,000-10,000 บาท คิดเป็นร้อยละ 40.99 ที่อยู่อาศัยส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นบ้าน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 86.65 รองลงมาเป็นร้านค้า คิดเป็นร้อยละ 6.83 ซึ่งมีสมาชิกเข้าร่วมโครงการธนาคารเพื่อฌาปนกิจ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 56.21
