พระราชบัญญัติป้องกันและระงับอัคคีภัย พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๒
อัคคีภัย หรือไฟไหม้สามารถเกิดขึ้นได้ทั้งจากการกระทำของมนุษย์ อุบัติเหตุ รวมทั้งเกิดจากภัยธรรมชาติ พระราชบัญญัตินี้ได้กำหนดให้อำนาจแก่เจ้าพนักงานที่รับผิดชอบทางด้านนี้ไว้ เพื่อประโยชน์ในการป้องกันและระงับอัคคีภัยดังต่อไปนี้
- ให้อำนาจแก่ผู้อำนวยการดับเพลิงประจำท้องถิ่นและเจ้าพนักงานท้องถิ่นในการจัดให้มีเครื่องมือสำหรับป้องกันอัคคีภัยและระงับอัคคีภัย รวมทั้งจัดให้มีการอบรมและฝึกซ้อมป้องกันอัคคีภัยและระงับอัคคีภัย
