ระบบท าน ้าเย็นส าหรับใช้ในการปรับอากาศ (Chiller system) เป็ นระบบที่มีใช้กันอย่างแพร่หลายในอาคารธุรกิจ เช่น
อาคารส านักงาน โรงแรม โรงพยาบาล ซึ่งอาคารดังกล่าวมีความต้องการทั ้งการปรับอากาศ เพื่อรักษาสภาพอากาศภายใน
ตัวอาคาร และต้องการพลังงานในการผลิตน ้าร้ อน เพื่อใช้ในการซักรีด หรืออุปโภคต่างๆ ไปพร้ อมๆ กัน ซึ่งโดยทั่วไปแล้ว
ระบบท าความเย็นจะมีการระบายความร้อนทิ ้งสู่บรรยากาศ ซึ่งความร้อนจ านวนดังกล่าวสามารถน ากลับมาใช้ในการผลิต
