การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาสภาพที่เป็นจริงในการบริหารจัดการ สถานศึกษาประเภทอาชีวศึกษา สังกัดมูลนิธิซาเลเซียนแห่งประเทศไทย โดยประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิด การบริหารแบบสมดุล (2) ศึกษาสภาพที่ควรจะเป็นในการบริหารจัดการสถานศึกษา (3) จัดลำดับ ความต้องการจำเป็นในการบริหารจัดการสถานศึกษา และ (4) ศึกษาแนวทางในการบริหารจัดการ สถานศึกษาประเภทอาชีวศึกษา โดยประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิดการบริหารแบบสมดุล
ประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ สถานศึกษาประเภทอาชีวศึกษา สังกัดมูลนิธิซาเลเซียน แห่งประเทศไทย จำนวน 2 แห่ง ผู้ให้ข้อมูล คือ ผู้บริหาร ครู และบุคลากรจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 289 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณเป็นแบบสอบถามชนิดมาตรประมาณค่าในรูปแบบการตอบ ข้อมูลแบบตอบสนองคู่ที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้น ประกอบด้วยข้อมูลสภาพการบริหารจัดการสถานศึกษา ที่เป็นจริง และที่ควรจะเป็นในมุมมอง 4 ด้านตามแนวคิดการบริหารแบบสมดุล ซึ่งมีค่าความเที่ยง เท่ากับ .974 และเท่ากับ .969 ตามลำดับ ส่วนเครื่องมือที่ใช้ใน การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพเป็นแนวคำถาม สำหรับการสนทนากลุ่มของผู้บริหารสถานศึกษา และผู้บริหารระดับสูงของมูลนิธิซาเลเซียนแห่ง ประเทศไทย สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าความถี่ ค่ารอยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบน มาตรฐาน และค่าดัชนีความต้องการจำเป็น
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า (1) สภาพที่เป็นจริงในการบริหารจัดการสถานศึกษา โดยภาพรวม อยู่ในระดับค่อนข้างมาก (2) สภาพที่ควรจะเป็นโดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก (3) ลำดับที่มีความ ต้องการจำเป็นมากที่สุด ได้แก่ ด้านการพัฒนาองค์การ รองลงมาเป็นด้านสนับสนุน และทรัพยากร ด้านประสิทธิภาพการปฏิบัติงาน และด้านประสิทธิผลตามลำดับ (4) วิเคราะห์เนื้อหาจากการ สนทนากลุ่มในภาพรวมของการเสนอแนวทางการบริหารจัดการสถานศึกษา มุ่งหมายให้เกิด กระบวนการทำงานที่เป็นระบบมากขึ้น เพื่อให้บรรลุเป้าหมายที่กำหนดไว้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ และ ประสิทธิผล โดยอาศัยการบูรณาการแนวคิดการบริหารแบบสมดุลกับทฤษฎีระบบให้เป็นนวัตกรรม ทางการบริหารของผู้บริหารอย่างเป็นรูปธรรมต่อไป
