๑ มกราคม ค.ศ. ๑๙๑๒ ซุนยัดเซน เดินทางจากเซี่ยงไฮ้ไปนานกิงเพื่อปฏิญญาณตนเป็นประธานาธิบดีคนแรกของจีน สถาปนาสาธารณรัฐประชาราษฎร์จีน เปลี่ยนไปใช้ศักราชสากล ตั้งรัฐบาลและรัฐสภาชั่วคราว

๑๒ กุมภาพันธ์ ค.ศ. ๑๙๑๒ จักรพรรดิปูยีแห่งราชวงศ์แมนจู ประกาศสละราชสมบัติ ชาวแมนจูปกครองชาวฮั่นนานถึง ๒๖๐ ปีจึงสิ้นสุดลงไปพร้อมๆกับการล่มสลายของราชวงศ์ชิง การปฏิวัติที่เริ่มต้นขึ้นในเดือนตุลาคม ค.ศ. ๑๙๑๑ นั้นคงกับปีซินไฮ่ในศักราชเก่าของจีน ดังนั้นการปฏิวัติครั้งนี้จึงได้ชื่อว่า “การปฏิวัติซินไฮ่”
