ประเทศไทยมีความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีกับจีนทั้งในด้านการค้า การลงทุน และการท่องเที่ยว การค้าระหว่างไทยกับจีนขยายตัวเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งยางพาราของไทยที่ส่งออกไปยังจีน เนื่องจากประเทศจีนเป็นประเทศที่มีการผลิตยางรถยนต์มากที่สุดในโลก ทำให้มีความจำเป็นในการใช้ยางพาราเพื่อเป็นวัตถุดิบในการผลิตยางรถยนต์ในปริมาณที่สูงมากที่สุดในโลกเช่นกัน
