พิธีบูชาเสาอินทขิลหรือเสาหลักเมือง ซึ่งชาวเชียงใหม่เชื่อว่าเป็นเสาหลักที่สร้างความมั่นคง การอยู่ดีมีสุขให้คนเชียงใหม่ อินทขิลหรือเรียกว่า เสาหลักเมืองเชียงใหม่ ชาวเชียงใหม่ทราบดีว่า ทุกๆ ปีจะต้องมีพิธีสักการะบูชาเสาอินทขิล เพื่อสร้างขวัญและกำลังใจเป็นสิริมงคลแก่ชีวิต ให้แก่ชาวบ้านชาวเมืองรวมทั้งผู้ที่ทำเกี่ยวกับเกษตรโดยการเพาะปลูก โดยงานดังกล่าวได้อัญเชิญพระเจ้าฝนแสนห่าอันเป็นพระพุทธรูปที่บันดาลให้ฝนตกมาเป็นประธานในขบวนแห่และมีการสวดคาถาอินทขิลของหมู่สงฆ์ด้วย ชาวเชียงใหม่จะทำพิธีบูชาอินทขิลในตอนปลายเดือน 8 ต่อเดือน 9 หรือระหว่างเดือนพฤษภาคมต่อเดือนมิถุนายน โดยเริ่มในวันแรม 3 ค่ำ เดือน 8 เรียกว่า วันเข้าอินทขิล การเข้าอินทขิลจะมีไปจนถึงในวันขึ้น 4 ค่ำ เดือน 9 ซึ่งเป็นวันออกอินทขิล จึงเรียกว่า เดือน 8 เข้า เดือน 9 ออก
