The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Autho

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Author Mark Twain, Born November. 30, 1835 his real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He was born in a small town named Florida, Missouri in Monroe County, 4 years after his birth he moved to a small town named Hannibal which stood right on the river banks of the Mississippi River. Here lots of steamboats would come up and down the river. When Samuel was 12 his dad died of pneumonia and he left school at the age of 13 to be a printer’s apprentice. This is where he found his love for writing and left to be a printer himself at the age of 17. In his life he wrote 28 books and some other short stories.
This book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” is a fictional story. Even though this is fictional some of this was based on his life and some of it is most kids childhood. I hope many people can make many connections to this book, I sure know that I can. When I was reading this book it opened my brain up to some of the memories I had during the summer, Tom sawyer is a believable character in that time, because some of the stuff he did in the book was illegal now, but it wasn’t then. So yes it is believable for the time period it was written in. This is also true for Huckleberry Finn, a good friend of Tom Sawyers. Huck is a really interesting character. He is a homeless boy who usually jumps from place to sleep it could be In a barn or it could be in a hogshead. Huck never really settles down until the end of the book. All the way through the book him and Tom make memories and become better friends then either of them probably imagined.
Some parts were really descriptive and some parts left me with many questions that twain never answered. Mark Twain’s style of writing seems to be foreshadowing a lot of things. For example “ Why should he give it up (the picnic) the signal didn’t come the night before, so why should it come tonight?” (pg 181) foreshadowing for when Injun Joe try’s to sneak out of the tavern and Huck is alone because Tom is at the picnic. I have never have read another book like this, it’s like no other. It isn’t supposed to be like another book it is supposed to be like a person life like how a kids grows up, the good and the bad and Mark twain showed that very well in this book. I recommend this book to older kids 7-12 it is a harder read then I expected it to be. Some of the language was older and hard to understand at times but sometimes it is just because some of the language wasn’t in my vocabulary. By the end of the book from all of the vocabulary assignments I learned a lot of new words and it opened me up the world people used to live in.
