เหตุการณ์รถไฟตกรางที่หัวหิน พ.ศ. 2552 เป็นเหตุการณ์ที่นับว่าเป็นอุบัติเหตุทางรถไฟไทยที่มีผู้เสียชีวิตและบาดเจ็บมากที่สุดรอบในหลายปี เหตุเกิดขึ้นเมื่อเวลา 04.20 น. ของวันที่ 5 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2552 โดยรถด่วนขบวนที่ 84 วิ่งจากสถานีตรังปลายทางสถานีกรุงเทพ เกิดตกรางที่สถานีเขาเต่า อำเภอหัวหิน จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ทำให้ตู้โดยสารทั้งหมด 15 ตู้ พลิกคว่ำเสีย 6 ตู้ มีผู้เสียชีวิต 7 ราย บาดเจ็บ 88 ราย และทำให้วันนั้นทั้งวัน รถไฟสายใต้ทุกขบวนต้องหยุดให้บริการทั้งหมด
