การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพปัญหาการปลูกผักสวนครัวในชุมชน 2) เพื่อจัดกิจกรรมการส่งเสริมการปลูกผักสวนครัวเพื่อสุขภาพและสิ่งแวดล้อมให้มีประสิทธิภาพ 3) เพื่อศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบความรู้และทัศนคติต่อการส่งเสริมการปลูกผักสวนครัวเพื่อสุขภาพและสิ่งแวดล้อมก่อนและหลังการส่งเสริม กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือ ชาวบ้านดอนบมจำนวน 30 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ คู่มือฝึกอบรมการปลูกผักสวนครัว แบบสอบถามความรู้และทัศนคติต่อการปลูกผักสวนครัว การเก็บรงบรวมข้อมูลด้วยรูปแบบการวิจัยกึ่งทดลองใช้กลุ่มตัวอย่างเดียว มีการทดสอบก่อนและหลังการฝึกอบรม สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติเปรียบเทียบ Paired t-test
ผลการวิจัย พบว่า ชาวบ้านมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยความรู้ก่อนฝึกอบรมเกี่ยวกับการปลูกผักสวนครัวอยู่ในระดับมาก ( x ̅ = 17.57) หลังการฝึกอบรมชาวบ้านมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยความรู้อยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด ( x ̅ = 22.70) เมื่อนำคะแนนมาเปรียบเทียบกันจะเห็นได้ว่าหลังการฝึกอบรมมีคะแนนความรู้เพิ่มมากขึ้นกว่าก่อนฝึกอบรม อย่างมีนัยสำคัญที่ระดับ .05 ชาวบ้านมีคะแนนทัศนคติก่อนฝึกอบรมอยู่ในระดับน้อย ( x ̅ = 1.61) หลังการฝึกอบรมชาวบ้านมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยทัศนคติอยู่ในระดับมาก( x ̅ = 2.67) เมื่อนำคะแนนมาเปรียบเทียบกันจะเห็นได้ว่าหลังการฝึกอบรมมีคะแนนสูกกว่าก่อนการฝึกอบรมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญที่ ระดับ .05 ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นว่าการฝึกอบรมการส่งเสริมการปลูกผักสวนครัวเพื่อสุขภาพและสิ่งแวดล้อมสำหรับชุมชนบ้านดอนบม ตำบลแวงน่าง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดมหาสารคาม มีผลทำให้ความรู้และทัศนคติของชาวบ้านเพิ่มมากขึ้น ซึ่งหากชาวบ้านนำความรู้จากการฝึกอบรมไปใช้ในการปลูกผักสำหรับบริโภคในครัวเรือนจะส่งผลให้ชาวบ้านประหยัดค่าใช่จ่าย ใช้เวลาว่างให้เกิดประโยชน์ และมีสุขภาพที่ดีต่อไป
