ความสุขภายนอก ก็ได้แก่ ปัจจัยภายนอกต่างๆ อาหาร เครื่องนุ่มห่ม ที่อยู่อาศัย ยารักษาโรค เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้ยังมี เงิน ที่เป็นตัวแปรในทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง ของความสุขภายนอกหรืออาจกล่าวได้ว่าเป็นความสุขทางสิ่งแวดล้อม
2.ความสุขภายใน

ความสุขภายใน ก็ได้แก่ ความรู้เ ความคิด ความรู้สึก ชื่อเสียง เกียรติยศ ความนับถือ ความปลอดภัย(ทั้งในด้านร่างกายและจิตใจ) เป็นต้น แต่สิ่งที่เป็นตัวแรกสำคัญคือจิตใจ ซึ่งเป็นบ่อเกิดของความสุขภายในจิตใจ

การที่คนเราจะกระทำสิ่งต่างๆนั้นต้องมีแรงจูงใจหรือเป้าหมายที่ตนเองได้ตั้งเอาไว้และต้องการที่จะบรรลุเป้าหมายดังกล่าว จึงนำไปสู่พฤติกรรมโดยแรงขับดันต่างๆ โดยมีกระบวนการของแรงจูงใจ คือ

1. ขั้นที่บุคคลมีความต้องการ ซึ่งมาจากความต้องการนิ่งที่ตนขาด
2. ขั้นการเกิดแรงขับ ซึ่งเกิดมาจากความต้องการที่ไปกระตุ้นให้เกิดสภาวะกระวนกระวายใจ
3. ขั้นแสดงพฤติกรรม เมื่อเกิดแรงขับ แรงขับจะทำหน้าที่ให้แสดงพฤติกรรมใดๆออกมา
4. ขั้นลดแรงขับ จะเกิดขึ้นได้เมื่อตนเองได้ตอบสนองความต้องการของตนเองไปแล้ว

จะเห็นได้ว่าการสดงพฤติกรรมของบุคคลต่างๆย่อมแตกต่างกันออกไป บางคนแสดงพฤติกรรมที่สงบ เรียบร้อย ใจเย็น แต่บางคนแสดงพฤติกรรมรุนแรง ฉุนเฉียว ใจร้อนอยู่ตลอดเวลา ซึ่งอาการเหล่านี้มักแสดงออกมาภายนอก เช่น สายตา น้ำ เสียง คำพูด การกระทำ แต่มีคนบางกลุ่มที่ชอบเก็บซ่อนความรู้สึกและพฤติกรรมของตนเอง ทั้งนี้สิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นนั้นต้องมีสาเหตุ ทำให้บุคคลกลุ่มนั้นถึงไม่กล้าที่จะเปิดเผยพฤติกรรมที่แท้จริงของตนเองออกมา
