การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้นิทานอีสป 2) เพื่อประเมินผลการพัฒนาการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียนกลุ่มตัวอย่างคือนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1/1ที่กำลังศึกษาในภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2558 วิทยาลัยนาฏศิลปร้อยเอ็ดจำนวน 40 คนโดยใช้แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ แบบทดสอบการอ่านนิทานอีสป เป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลและสถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลได้แก่ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานและการทดสอบค่าที (t-distribution) โดยใช้สูตร t-test for Dependent Samples
ผลการวิจัยพบว่าการพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้นิทานอีสป กลุ่มสาระการเรียนรู้ภาษาต่างประเทศ (ภาษาอังกฤษ) ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 สามารถพัฒนาความรู้เดิมปรับปรุงการอ่านให้ดีขึ้น ส่งผลให้ผู้เรียนมีผลสัมฤทธิ์ที่ดีขึ้น สามารถทำคะแนนทดสอบการอ่านอยู่ในเกณฑ์ที่ดีได้คะแนนเฉลี่ยสูงขึ้นกว่าเดิมจาก 4.12 เป็น 7.17 ซึ่งสอดคล้องตามที่กำหนดไว้ตามวัตถุประสงค์ ก่อนการทดลองสูงกว่าหลังการทดลอง แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05
