จุดมุ่งหมายของการทำวิทยานิพนธ์เล่มน

จุดมุ่งหมายของการทำวิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้ เพื่อพัฒนาระบบคัดกรองผู้ป่วย ของโรงพยาลหรือคลินิกในประเทศไทยให้มีระบบคัดกรองที่เร็วขึ้น ซึ่งระบบคัดกรองผู้ป่วยแบบเดิมจะใช้การถามอาการของผู้ป่วยด้วยปากเปล่า แล้วพยาบาลจะเป็นผู้ทำการประเมินอาการและคัดกรองผู้ป่วยส่งไปยังห้องตรวจหรือแผนกตรวจ ตามความความชำนาญการของพยาบาลนั้นๆ ซึ่งหากพยาบาลไม่มีความชำนาญการมากพออาจจะส่งผู้ป่วยไปผิดแผนกหรือผิดห้อง และการถามคำถามอาการผู้ป่วยด้วยระบบคัดกรองหรือวิจฉัยส่วนใหญ่จะใช้การถามที่ละคำถาม ซึ่งหากอาการที่ผู้ป่วยเป็นอยู่ในข้อท้ายๆอาจจะทำให้เกิดความล่าช้าในการคัดกรองผู้ป่วยได้ และนอกจากนั้นหากผู้ป่วยมีอาการไม่ตรงตามแผนภูมิโรคระบบก็จะไม่สามารถทำการคัดกรองผู้ป่วยได้
ดังนั้นวิทยานิพนธ์ ระบบการคัดกรองผู้ป่วยนี้ จึงได้นำเอาระบบการคัดกรองและการวิจฉัยโรคแบบเดิมมาพัฒนา โดยใช้แผนภูมิต้นไม้ตามตำราตรวจรักษาโรคเบื้องต้นมาช่วยในการวิจฉัยโรคเพื่อแก้ปัญหาความไม่แน่นอนของการคัดกรองผู้ป่วย แล้วยังสามารถคัดกรองผู้ป่วยส่งห้องตรวจได้ตามความน่าจะเป็นของอาการที่ผู้ป่วยเป็น และนำหลักการนี้ไปใช้รวมกับการทำฐานข้อมูลผู้ป่วยเพื่อเพิ่มความสามารถในการสร้างคำถามให้กับพยาบาล เพื่อใช้ถามอาการของผู้ป่วยให้มีความรวดเร็วในการคัดกรองผู้ป่วยมากขึ้น อันก่อให้เกิดผลดีต่อการเข้ารับการรักษาของผู้ป่วย
