การวิจัยเรื่องการมีส่วนร่วมของชุมชนในการอนุรักษ์โบราณสถานเวียงท่ากาน อำเภอสันป่า-ตอง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 2 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) เพื่อศึกษาประวัติและพัฒนาการของโบราณสถานเวียงท่ากาน อำเภอสันป่าตอง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ และ 2) เพื่อศึกษาการมีส่วนร่วมของคนในชุมชนในการอนุรักษ์โบราณสถานเวียงท่ากาน อำเภอสันป่าตอง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ ประชาชนในหมู่บ้านเวียงท่ากาน หมู่5 ตำบลบ้านกลาง อำเภอสันป่าตอง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ จำนวน จำนวน 30 คน โดยใช้วิธีคัดเลือกแบบง่าย เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบสอบถามเกี่ยวกับการมีส่วนร่วมของชุมชนในการอนุรักษ์โบราณสถาน สถิติที่ใช้ คือ ร้อยละ และค่าเฉลี่ย
