การพัฒนาสันติภาพโลกให้ได้ผลนั้น จะต้องใช้ความผิดพลาดจากอดีตเป็นบทเรียนที่ดี สำหรับก้าวต่อไปอย่างมั่นคงในอนาคต ในอดีตที่ผ่านมาเราพัฒนาโดยยึดเอาวัตถุเป็นศูนย์กลาง ผลที่เกิดขึ้นก็คือ มนุษย์สร้างวัตถุต่าง ๆ อย่างกว้างขวาง เป็นโลกวัตถุนิยมที่มนุษย์ไม่มีความสุข การพัฒนาในครั้งต่อไปที่มีความเหมาะสมมากกว่า ก็คือการพัฒนาโลกที่ใช้ศีลธรรมเป็นศูนย์กลาง หรือเรียกว่าโลกแห่งศีลธรรม
โลกแห่งศีลธรรม หมายถึงโลกที่มีการเคลื่อนไหวเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ หรือความถูกต้องทางวัตถุ ทางสังคม ทางจิตใจ และทางภูมิปัญญา เป้าหมายที่สำคัญของโลกแห่งศีลธรรม มีดังนี้
1. ในทางวัตถุ ทุกคนมีพออยู่พอกิน มีวัตถุให้ครอบครองเท่าที่จำเป็น มีสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ดี มีสุขภาพที่ดี มีการกระจายทรัพยากรทุกอย่างด้วยความยุติธรรม
2. ในทางสังคม มีสถาบันพื้นฐานทางสังคม คือสถาบันครอบครัวและสถาบันชุมชนที่เป็นปึกแผ่น เพื่อสร้างความเป็นปกติสุขในทางสังคมและทางศีลธรรม มีประชาธิปไตย มีสันติธรรม มีการกระจายอำนาจ และสร้างความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีกับสังคมอื่น ๆ
3. ในทางปัญญา จะต้องเป็นโลกแห่งการเรียนรู้ของคนทั้งมวล มีกระบวนการเรียนรู้ที่ถูกต้อง มีวัฒนธรรมของการแสวงหาความจริง มีวิธีการคิดที่ถูกต้อง พิจารณาอย่างแยบคาย สามารถเรียนรู้ ปรับตัว แก้ไขปัญหาได้อย่างถูกต้อง
4. ในทางจิตใจ จะต้องเป็นโลกที่สร้างคนให้มีความรักต่อเพื่อนมนุษย์และธรรมชาติ สามารถเห็นคุณค่าความรัก ความดีของเพื่อนมนุษย์และสรรพสิ่งมีความสุขอย่างแท้จริง มีการพัฒนาทางจิตวิญญาณ
หากเราร่วมมือกันอุปสรรคทางความหลากหลายของวัฒนธรรมในโลกนี้ ทั้งความแตกต่างทางภาษา การแต่งกายและประเพณี จะไม่เป็นอุปสรรคในการเจริญงอกงามของโลกแห่งศีลธรรมเพื่อสันติภาพโลก ข้าพเจ้าหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าศีลธรรมนี้เองที่จะเป็นดังเสาหลักค้ำจุนสันติภาพโลกอย่างยั่งยืนตลอดไป
