การศึกษาโครงงานเรื่องผ้าผัดย้อมจากสีธรรมชาติ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1. เพื่อศึกษาวิธีการทำ ผ้ามัดย้อมจาก ดอกอัญชัน ใบเตย เปลือกมังคุด ขมิ้น เปลือกแก้วมังกร แครอท 2. เพื่อให้ได้สีจากธรรมชาติมาทำเป็นผ้ามัดย้อมที่มีสีสันสวยงาม และ 3. เพื่อลดค่าใช้จ่ายในการทำผ้ามัดย้อมแทนสีย้อมผ้า และต้องการอนุรักษ์ภูมิปัญญาไทย โดยในท้องถิ่นแต่ละท้องถิ่นมีการดำเนินชีวิตที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการทำมาหากินความเป็นอยู่และความอยู่รอดของบุคคล ครอบครัว หรือในชุมชนนั้น ๆ จึงเป็นเหตุให้เกิดการค้นคว้าคิดที่จะพัฒนา หรือประดิษฐ์สิ่งต่างๆ ขึ้นในแต่ละท้องถิ่น ซึ่งคนในแต่ละท้องถิ่นอาจอยู่ในสภาพแวดล้อมที่แตกต่างกันจึงทำให้ภูมิปัญญาแต่ละภูมิปัญญามีความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของท้องถิ่นนั้น ๆ ต่างกันออกไป และในภูมิปัญญานั้น ๆ ก็จะเกิดการพัฒนาขึ้นมาเรื่อย ๆ ให้มีคุณภาพตามยุคตามสมัย หรือความเหมาะสมของภูมิปัญญาที่จะนำมาใช้ได้ในสภาพสังคมที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปตลอดระยะเวลาของท้องถิ่นนั้นผ้ามัดย้อมก็เช่นกันเป็นภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นของคนใน ตำบลแก่งคอย อำเภอแก่งคอย จังหวัดสระบุรี ประดิษฐ์คิดค้นขึ้นมาด้วยสติปัญญาของคนในท้องถิ่น โดยนำวัสดุที่มีอยู่ในท้องถิ่นมาใช้ให้เกิดประโยชน์
