จุดมุ่งหมายของการทำงานวิจัยในครั้งนี้ เพื่อศึกษาการเจริญเติบโตของสาหร่าย Chlorella ellipsoidea ในสูตรอาหาร Bold’s Basal Medium ที่สภาวะไนโตรเจนที่จำกัด นอกจากนี้ยังสกัดเอาน้ำมันออกจากสาหร่ายที่เพาะเลี้ยงด้วยวิธี Blingh and Dyer ในช่วงเวลาของการเจริญเติบโตที่แตกต่างกันของสาหร่าย เพื่อศึกษาหาระยะเวลาที่เหมาะสมในการเก็บเกี่ยวน้ำมันจากสาหร่าย ให้เกิดความคุ้มค่ามากที่สุดโดยเปรียบเทียบปริมาณน้ำมันของสาหร่าย ระหว่างสภาวะที่เพาะเลี้ยงในปริมาณไนโตรเจนเข้มข้น 25 กรัมต่อลิตร กับสภาวะไนโตรเจนที่จำกัด คือสภาวะไนโตรเจนเข้มข้น 0.25 กรัมต่อลิตร ทั้งนี้เพื่อนำข้อมูลที่ได้ไปประยุกต์ใช้หรือเป็นพื้นฐานในการตัดสินใจเพื่อขยายผลการผลิตไบโอดีเซลในระดับโรงงานอุตสาหกรรม
