กองทัพไทยกับมาเลเซียมีการฝึกทางทหารระหว่างกันเป็นประจำ ได้แก่ (1) LAND EX THAMAL ซึ่งเป็นการฝึกประจำปีเริ่มเมื่อปี 2536 (2) THALAY LAUT ซึ่งมีการฝึกครั้งแรกเมื่อปี 2523 จัดขึ้นทุก 2 ปี โดยไทยกับมาเลเซียสลับกันเป็นเจ้าภาพ (3) SEA EX THAMAL เริ่มเมื่อปี 2522 มีพื้นที่ฝึกบริเวณพื้นที่ปฏิบัติการร่วมชายแดนทางทะเลระหว่างไทย-มาเลเซียทั้งด้านอ่าวไทยและทะเลอันดามัน (4) AIR THAMAL เป็นการฝึกการปฏิบัติการทางอากาศยุทธวิธีตามบริเวณชายแดนไทย-มาเลเซีย ตั้งแต่ปี 2525 โดยทำการฝึกทุกปี ประกอบด้วยการฝึกภาคสนามสลับกับการฝึกปัญหาที่บังคับการ และสลับกันเป็นเจ้าภาพ และ (5) JCEX THAMAL เป็นการฝึกร่วม/ผสมภายใต้กรอบการปฏิบัติการทางทหารนอกเหนือจากสงครามในการให้ความช่วยเหลือด้านมนุษยธรรมและการบรรเทาภัยพิบัติ และการช่วยเหลือประชาชน
