ในปัจจุบันนี้การทำงานทุกๆ ด้านไม่ว่าจะอยู่ในภาครัฐบาลหรือเอกชนก็ตามย่อมมีการนำเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่เข้าไปใช้ในหน่วยงานต่าง ๆ เช่น การนำคอมพิวเตอร์เข้ามาใช้ในการประมวลข้อมูลซึ่งเป็นเทคโนโลยีที่มีผลกระทบต่อการดำเนินชีวิตของมนุษย์ในสังคมจึงทำให้คอมพิวเตอร์มีบทบาททั้งในปัจจุบันและอนาคต คอมพิวเตอร์มีบทบาทสำคัญต่องานทุกระบบโดยเฉพาะระบบงานด้านบัญชีซึ่งมีลักษณะงานที่มีความซับซ้อน มีข้อมูลจำนวนมากที่ต้องการความถูกต้อง แม่นยำ ทันต่อเหตุการณ์ และมีการเก็บข้อมูลอย่างเป็นระเบียบ การบันทึกบัญชีด้วยระบบมือโดยใช้เครื่องคำนวณมักจะพบความผิดพลาดในเรื่องเอกสารตัวเลขอยู่บ่อยๆ เนื่องจากมีจำนวนมากและฝ่ายบัญชีไม่สามารถออกงบการเงินให้ผู้บริหารได้ทันเวลาเมื่อต้องการทราบข้อมูล ทำให้นักบัญชีมีภาระงานมาก ไม่สามารถวิเคราะห์วางแผนการปฏิบัติงานให้มีประสิทธิภาพได้ การวิจัยครั้งนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการใช้ระบบสารสนเทศทางการบัญชีของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลพระนคร และศึกษาเพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการพัฒนาความรู้ในการศึกษาวิชาระบบสารสนเทศทางการบัญชีให้มีประสิทธิภาพยิ่งขึ้น เพื่อให้มีความเชี่ยวชาญในการใช้งานระบบสารสนเทศ และเกิดความพร้อมในการประกอบอาชีพในอนาคต โดยใช้แบบสอบถามเป็นเครื่องมือวิจัย ทำการวิเคราะห์จากนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลพระนคร จำนวน 231 คน โดยใช้การวิเคราะห์การถดถอยพหุคูณในการทดสอบสมมติฐาน
