ธงชาติลาว ลักษณะผืนธงแบ่งตามแนวยาวออกเป็น 3 ส่วน โดยแถบตรงกลางจะเป็นสีน้ำเงิน กว้าง 2 ส่วน มีพระจันทร์ทรงกลมสีขาวอยู่กึ่งกลาง ขณะที่แถบด้านนอกทั้ง 2 ด้าน มีสีแดง และกว้างริ้วละ 1 ส่วน เท่า ๆ กัน โดยสีต่าง ๆ ของธง มีความหมาย ดังนี้
