1.1 ความหมาย
โครงงานคอมพิวเตอร์ เป็นกิจกรรมอิสระที่ผู้เรียนสามารถเลือกศึกษาตามความสนใจ โดยใช้ทักษะตลอดจนประสบการณ์ของผู้เรียนด้านคอมพิวเตอร์ ผู้เรียนจะต้องวางแผนดำเนินงาน ศึกษา
พัฒนาโปรแกรม หรืออุปกรณ์ที่เกี่ยวข้อง กิจกรรมที่จัดว่าเป็นโครงงานมีองค์ประกอบหลักดังนี้
-เป็นกิจกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์
-ผู้เรียนเป็นริเริ่มและเลือกที่จะศึกษา ค้นคว้า พัฒนา
-เก็บรวบรวมหรือประดิษฐ์คิดค้นด้วยตนเองตามความสนใจ และระดับความรู้ความสามารถ
-ผู้เรียนเป็นผู้วางแผนในการศึกษา สรุป และเสนอผลการศึกษาด้วยตนเอง โดยมีครูเป็นที่ปรึกษา



1.2 ประเภทของโครงงานแบ่งได้เป็น 2 ประเภท
1.โครงงานพัฒนาสื่อเพื่อการศึกษา เป็นโครงงานที่ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการผลิตสื่อเพื่อการศึกษา
2.โครงงานประเภทประยุกต์ สร้างผลงานเพื่อใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน
2.ออกแบบโครงงานและเขียนผังโครงงาน
1.คัดเลือกหัวข้อที่สนใจ
2.ศึกษาจากเอกสารและรวบรวมข้อมูล
3.จัดทำเค้าโครงของโครงงาน ศึกษาเอกสารอ้างอิงต่างๆและเลือกเรื่องที่จะทำโครงงาน รวมทั้งการวางแผนการทำงานทุกขั้นตอน โดยปรึกษากับอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา จึงเขียนเค้าโครงของโครงงานเพื่อใช้เป็นกรอบแนวคิดและแนวทาง ตลอดจนข้อตกลงต่างๆเพื่อช่วยให้การทำงานดำเนินไปอย่างราบรื่น
