1.1 ทบทวนความรู้ของนักเรียนเกี่ยวกับประเทศต่างๆในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ได้แก่ ประเทศไทย บรูไนดารุสซาราม กัมพูชา อินโดนีเซีย ลาว มาเลเซีย พม่า ฟิลิปปินส์ สิงคโปร์ เวียดนามและติมอร์–เลสเต โดยให้นักเรียนดูแผนภาพที่ 10.1 - 10.3 ภาพธงชาติของประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ โดยใช้วิธีตอบถามว่าเป็นธงชาติของประเทศใด
1.2 ครูอธิบายแผนที่แสดงทำเลที่ตั้งของประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
2. ขั้นจำแนกความแตกต่าง
2.1 แบ่งนักเรียนออกเป็น 6 กลุ่ม โดยคละความสามารถ ( เก่ง ปานกลาง อ่อน ) (Home group) แล้วให้เลือกประธาน และเลขานุการ ครูได้ชี้แจงบทบาทหน้าที่ของประธาน สมาชิก และเลขานุการ ให้นักเรียนทุกคนเข้าใจ ในการแบ่งกลุ่มได้ดำเนินการดังนี้
