ภาษาที่คนทั้งโลกยอมรับให้เป็นภาษากลางเพื่อจะใช้ในการสื่อสารให้เข้าใจตรงกันนั้นปัจจุบันคือ ภาษาอังกฤษ แต่ก็ยังมีประเด็นที่ยังสงสัยกันอยู่ว่า เหตุใดคนไทยจึงพูดภาษาอังกฤษแทบจะไม่ได้ ?
เหตุผลประการแรก คือ ส่วนใหญ่เติบโตในโรงเรียนที่มีการสื่อสารแบบทางเดียว ผู้เป็นครูจะทำหน้าที่สื่อสารส่วนนักเรียนรับอย่างเดียวโดยไม่ค่อยมีโอกาสได้โต้ตอบกลับไป ทำให้กลายเป็นคนขี้อาย ไม่คุ้นเคยและไม่มีความมั่นใจกับการพูดในห้องเรียนหรือเหตุการณ์เฉพาะหน้าต่างๆ ในสังคมทั่วไป

เหตุผลที่สี่ที่ทำให้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นเรื่องยาก ก็คือ การเคร่งเครียดกับการเรียนการใช้มากเกินไป คนส่วนใหญ่จึงหมดความพยายามและคิดว่ามันยาก น่าเบื่อ
