งานอดิเรกที่ผมรู้สึกประทับไจมากที่สุด ตั้งแต่เกิดมาจนปัจจุบันคือ การอ่านและเขียนหนังสือด้วยตนเอง แต่คงยกเว้นสำหรับบทกวีต่างๆ ที่ผมเขียนไม่ได้น้ำไม่ได้เนื้อเอาเสียเลย ครั้งแรกที่ผมเริ่มอ่านหนังสือต้องนับกลับไปประมาณปีที่ผมเริ่มขึ้นเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปี ๒ มีวิขาบังคับหนึ่งที่ผมยังคงจำได้อยู่คือวิชาห้องสมุด ถ้าจำไม่ผิดแล้วภารกิจของเราคือการไปอ่านหนังสืออะไรก็ได้ในห้องสมุด แล้วเติมคำตอบลงไปในใบงาน ๑ แผ่นต่อคาบ ซึ่งเอาเข้าจริงผม กับเพื่อนร่วมห้องก็ช่วยกันเขียนลงไป ที่นั้นเป็นที่ๆมีเวลาว่างมากพอ และทุกคนพร้อมจะคุยกับผมอย่างสบายใจที่สุด
แม้ผมจำไม่ได้ว่าผมพูดอะไรกับใคร ผมก็จำหนังสือได้เกือบทุกเล่มที่เคยอ่าน และไม่เคยอ่าน จนถึงปัจจุบันนี้ผมก็ยังอ่านหลายๆเรื่องที่เคยมีอยู่ที่ห้องสมุด เช่น  ลอร์ด ออฟ เดอะ ริงค์ ทั้งสามเล่มที่อ่านจบไป กับ ตำนานแห่งซิลมาริล ตำนานไม่รู้จบ และ ฮอบบิท ที่กำลังอ่านอยู่ เป็นต้น ทั้งหมดนี้ล้วนสร้างแรงบันดาลใจมากกว่าหนังสือเล่มไหนๆ ที่เคยมี เหมือนเป็นการเติมเต็มชีวิตในวัยเด็กของผมที่หายไป
และจากงานอดิเรกนั้น ได้นำผมมาสู่การเข้าชมรม “สโมสรยุวกวีแห่งสาธิตจุฬาฯ” ผมเรียกสั้นๆว่า ชมรมนักเขียน เริ่มแรกนั้น ได้มีเพื่อนร่วมรุ่นของผมได้ก่อตั้งมันขึ้นปีนี้เป็นปีแรก ด้วยความเร่งด่วนต้องเลือกเพราะไม่เคยมีชมรม ผมเห็นว่าความสนิทกับเพื่อนจะช่วยผม จากการแต่งกาพย์กลอนที่ผมไม่เคยสนิทชิดเชื้อ แต่หลังจากที่ผมเข้าไปก็มีงานให้เขียนงานเกี่ยวกับอะไรก็ได้ ๑งานต่อเดือน กว่าที่ผมจะตัดสินใจจะเขียนเรียงความวันแม่ ก็ใช้เวลานานมากจนสายไปงวดแรก ไปส่งงวดสองเกือบจะสาย
ผมนึกว่าจะต้องโดนต่อว่าแน่ๆ แต่ปรากฏออกมาว่าผมเป็นคนที่เขียนได้ยาวที่สุด และกรรมการชมรมชอบมากๆ จนต้องเอาขึ้นจอทีวี อ่านให้คนอื่นๆในชมรมฟัง แม้ผลวิจารณ์จะดีแต่ต้องปรับปรุงนิดหน่อย  แต่ผมก็รู้สึกดีมากๆ แล้วเริ่มเขียนส่งเป็นเรื่องสั้นไปทางอีเมล์ชมรมเรื่อยๆ การที่ได้เขียนไม่ว่าจะวิจารณ์ดี หรือไม่ดี มันทำให้ผมมีความสุขอย่างที่ไม่เคยมีมาก่อน แม้แต่ตอนนี้ที่ผมพิมพ์อยู่ ก็เป็นการปรับปรุงเรียงความโลกส่วนตัวของวิชาภาษาไทยผม ให้ดีขึ้นผมก็ไม่รู้สึกเครียดเพราะผมไม่คิดว่าผมเขียนอันแรกไม่ดี ผมแค่ทำให้มันดีขึ้น เหมือนที่เรามีชีวิตอยู่ดี หรือไม่ดี ก็ต้อง ทำให้มันดีขึ้นไปจากเดิม
