อนุสรณ์สถานยุทธนาวีที่เกาะช้าง ตั้งอยู่ที่ถนนสุขาภิบาล 3 ตำบลแหลมงอบ ภายในบริเวณมีลักษณะเป็นอนุสาวรีย์กรมหลวงชุมพรเขตรอุดมศักดิ์หันพระพักตร์ไปยังบริเวณยุทธนาวีเกาะช้าง

และภายใต้อนุสาวรีย์ยังเป็นอาคารพิพิธภัณฑ์ ที่ออกแบบคล้ายเรือรบ เพื่อให้รำลึกถึงประวัติศาสตร์ของกรมกลวงชุมพรเขตรอุดมศักดิ์กับประวัติศาสตร์การสู้รบของกองทัพเรือไทยกับกองกำลังเรือรบของฝรั่งเศส โดยจำลองภาพเหตุการณ์ของวันที่ 16-17 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2484 ซึ่งกองกำลังของฝรั่งเศสในอินโดจีนได้ส่งกำลังทางเรือเข้ามาทางหัวเมืองชายทะเลตะวันออกของไทย พร้อมเครื่องบินลาดตระเวณทางอากาศ กองทัพเรือได้จัดกำลังทางเรือปกป้องน่านน้ำไทยและได้ปะทะกันอย่างองอาจกล้าหาญ เรือรบหลวงธนบุรีได้ยิงต่อสู้จนเรือข้าศึกถอยไปทั้งๆที่ถูกยิงเสียหายอย่างหนักจนจมลงในที่สุด พร้อมการสูญเสียกำลังพลประจำเรือถึง 36 นาย
