วันนี้เราจะพาเพื่อนๆ ไปเที่ยวทะเลดับร้อนกันที่ "อุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะสิมิลัน" หมู่เกาะกลางทะเลอันดามันที่เป็นเลิศในด้านความงามของปะการังใต้ท้องทะเล อยู่ที่ตำบลเกาะพระทอง อำเภอคุระบุรี จังหวัดพังงา ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ 80,000 ไร่ ประกาศเป็นเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติ เมื่อวันที่ 1 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2525

สำหรับคำว่า "สิมิลัน" เป็นภาษายาวีหรือมลายู แปลว่า เก้าหรือหมู่เกาะเก้า ทั้งนี้ หมู่เกาะสิมิลันเป็นหมู่เกาะเล็กๆ ในทะเลอันดามัน มีทั้งหมด 9 เกาะ เรียงลำดับจากเหนือมาใต้ ได้แก่ เกาะหูยง เกาะปายัง เกาะปาหยัน เกาะเมี่ยง (มี 2 เกาะติดกัน) เกาะปายู เกาะหัวกระโหลก ( เกาะบอน) เกาะสิมิลัน และเกาะบางู มีที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะสิมิลัน อยู่ที่เกาะเมี่ยงเพราะเป็นเกาะที่มีน้ำจืด หมู่เกาะเหล่านี้ได้รับการยกย่องว่าเป็นหมู่เกาะที่มีความงามทั้งบนบกและใต้น้ำที่ยังคงความสมบูรณ์ของท้องทะเล สามารถดำน้ำได้ทั้งน้ำตื้นและน้ำลึก มีปะการังที่มีสีสันสวยงามหลายชนิด ปลาหลากสีสันและหายาก เช่น กระเบนราหู ปลาวาฬ ปลาโลมา ปลาไหลมอนเร่ ปลาการ์ตูน
