งานประเพณีแห่เทียนพรรษา ถือเป็นงานบุญที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดของจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี โดยได้กำหนดจัดงานขึ้นในวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำเดือน 8 และแรม 1 ค่ำเดือน 8 หรือวันอาสาฬหบูชาและวันเข้าพรรษา จัดให้มีขึ้นทุกปี มีการประกวดต้นเทียน 2 ประเภท คือ ประเภทติดพิมพ์ และประเภทแกะสลัก โดยขบวนแห่จากคุ้มวัดต่างๆ จะเคลื่อนขบวนจาก หน้าวัดศรีอุบลรัตนาราม ไปตามถนน มาสิ้นสุดขบวนที่ทุ่งศรีเมือง และการแสดงสมโภชต้นเทียน แลเป็นแสงไฟต้องลำเทียนงามอร่ามไปทั้งงาน มีชาวต่างชาติมาเที่ยวชมมากมายในช่วงเทศกาล จึงทำให้เมืองอุบลราชะานีเป็นเมืองที่น่าท่องเที่ยวด้านวัฒนธรรมอีกเมืองหนึ่งในประเทศไทย
